FORD MUSTANG 'ELEANOR' RECREATION

1967 Fastback

Now this is a story of two halves! The Mustang has had a chequered past. Firstly it has had a lot of work carried out by two different types of restorers. Restorer No1 They had done all the hard work perfectly the chassis has been re-worked using all new panels expertly fitted. This included new front and rear wings, inner and outer. A right hand drive bulkhead, complete doors, floor panels and boot floor (you can see these in the images). At this point the car was sold unfinished, we don’t know the reason why. Restorer No2 They seemed to have the right intensions. The engine a 302 5.0 litre had been reconditioned. All the components were supplied to us which include injection system, alternator, full stainless exhaust manifold. Basically the lot! This is where it seems to go wrong. A Shelby style body kit, brand new tailgate, side skirts and nose cone had been fitted and the car was then painted poorly in Candy Apple Red, as you can see in the images. At this point Aero Classic Cars purchased the Mustang. We are currently stripping the body work. We have removed the engine and all glass. Once all the components have been removed we will have the car media blasted and primed. We will then start the rebuilding process. Once rebuilt to white primer stage we will strip and have painted as an Eleanor recreation. The only question at present is how much power and is the 302 big enough?!
